Voting in the first Monetate Open Source Prize is now closed, the votes have been counted, and we are delighted to announce the winners.
Voting narrowed down the field of 5 finalists to our First, Second, and Third Prize winners who will receive some great prizes, including The Ultimate Developer Kick Start Package (featuring a MacBook Pro, an Apple Cinema Display, iPad 2, plus a month's supply of pizza and Mountain Dew, Amazon.com gift cards, and more).
Congratulations are in order for the First Prize winner RX Shortages, a mobile application designed to help doctors and hospitals access information about drug shortages, a serious challenge currently facing health care providers. The Second Prize winner is Gem Testers, an automated distributed testing infrastructure for Rubygems. The Third Prize goes to Pyty, a static type-checker for Python source code.
All of the finalists contributed excellent work, and it is inspiring to witness the outstanding level of innovation in the Philadelphia tech community. Indeed, we have been consistently impressed with the quality of the submissions we received throughout the contest. That's why, in order to show our appreciation for all who participated--and to say a big "Thank You" to the Philly Tech community--we are throwing an "Open Source Open Bar" tonight at Philadelphia Bar and Restaurant in Olde City from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. You can register to attend right here.
Thanks again to everyone who participated and we hope to see you guys at the open bar tonight. The food and drinks are on us!
