Lucinda Duncalfe, CEO

Lucinda Duncalfe is CEO of Monetate. A seasoned entrepreneur and innovator, Lucinda has proven experience building mature sales and operations cultures, and developing product strategies that accelerate company growth. She has served on Monetate’s Board of Directors for the past seven years, and helped Monetate create and establish a multi-billion dollar market for digital personalization.

Prior to Monetate, Lucinda was Founder and CEO of Real Food Works, a start-up delivering meal programs for health based on a real food diet, using local restaurants as suppliers. Lucinda has founded and run a number of venture capital-backed companies, including ClickEquations, acquired by Channel Intelligence; TurnTide, acquired by Symantec for $28 million six months after founding, and Destiny WebSolutions, an Inc. 500 winner.

She has won many awards including the Eastern Technology Council’s Enterprise Award for CEO of the Year, was an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Philadelphia, and was named America’s 17th Most Influential Consultant by Consulting Magazine. She has served on the boards of Semprae Labs, The Montessori School, and the World Affairs Council. She graduated cum laude from University of Pennsylvania, earned an MBA from the Wharton School in Entrepreneurial Management, and was an Eisenhower Fellow. Lucinda holds a second-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and is a frequent speaker at industry events.

David Brussin, Founder, Chairman, Chief Product Officer

David Brussin is an entrepreneur and innovator whose career has been dedicated to helping marketers succeed in the digital world. In 1996, David co-founded InfoSec Labs, which helped large enterprises move safely into ecommerce and online marketing in the early days of the commercial Internet. Following the success of InfoSec Labs, he co-founded ePrivacy Group, developing technology that allowed marketers to use email to build strong customer relationships, and TurnTide, a technology that protected the value of the email channel by attacking spam in a new and effective way.

David founded Monetate with David Bookspan in 2008 to help online marketers fulfill the long-held promise of using Big Data to get the right experience in front of the right customer at the right time. David collaborates regularly with Monetate customers to understand their challenges and evolve Monetate products to best meet their needs. He is dedicated to shaping and preserving the culture that makes Monetate one of Pennsylvania’s “Best Places to Work.”

David serves on the Board of Directors of Shop.org, the world’s leading professional association for digital retailers. He also served on the Board of Directors of Invite Media from 2007 until its acquisition by Google in 2010. He is a published author, holds several patents on his inventions, and is an avid adventurer and hobbyist.

Michelle Curless, Senior Vice President of Services

Michelle oversees the Post-Sales customer experience at Monetate, responsible for Customer Success, which includes Professional Services, Global Support, Training, Consulting Partners, Account Management, Renewals and Services Operations.

Prior to joining Monetate, Michelle held multiple positions at ExactTarget, which was acquired by Salesforce in 2013. Most recently, as Vice President, Customer Experience, Michelle established Customer Experience as a key business discipline across the Salesforce Marketing Cloud, influencing interaction consistency and company transformation efforts.

In other capacities at ExactTarget, Michelle held senior leadership positions, overseeing professional services teams delivering services engagements and establishing the company’s first Project Management Office (PMO).

Prior to her work with ExactTarget, Michelle has worked throughout the U.S. and as a an expatriate internationally with Electronic Data Systems (EDS)/HP, The Customer Group, LLC and several high-tech internet start-up companies. With these companies she has worked with a broad spectrum of industries including hi-tech manufacturing, financial services, communications, travel and transportation, automotive and healthcare.

Her over 20-year career has focused on customer strategy transformation and includes working with leading organizations and start-ups across industries in consulting, operational, and business development roles.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN and currently resides in Michigan with her husband and two daughters.

Bob Lawson, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer

Bob oversees all Finance, Accounting, Administration and Legal functions at Monetate. In his previous role, Bob was the senior vice president and chief financial officer at RingCentral, where he implemented the processes and systems needed to enable RingCentral’s 2013 IPO, while dramatically increasing revenue. He also led investor relations for the company. Prior to RingCentral, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Codexis, Inc., where he successfully led the first IPO of an advanced biofuel company in April 2013. Before that, Bob was vice president of finance for Intuit, Inc.'s TurboTax and Quicken businesses. While at Intuit, he held various senior financial management positions, including vice president of investor relations and financial planning and analysis. Prior to Intuit, he served for 15 years in various financial management roles at General Electric.

Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and lives with his wife and children in Palo Alto, CA.

Maribeth Ross, Senior Vice President of Marketing

Maribeth is a veteran B2B marketer fascinated with cracking the code of what makes customers engage, buy from, and champion a brand. As Senior Vice President of Marketing, Maribeth leverages her deep expertise to lead Monetate’s marketing functions. With over 15 years of award-winning experience driving marketing strategy and execution for high-growth technology companies, Maribeth brings a passion for integrated marketing and marketing technology to her role.

Early in her career, while leading marketing for a Ford subsidiary, Maribeth obtained a 6-Sigma Black Belt certification; solidifying her love of statistics and data. She put these skills to work to establish metrics-oriented marketing initiatives as Director of Solutions Marketing for Iron Mountain and VP of Marketing at NetProspex. Most recently, Maribeth was Managing Director and Chief Content Officer at Aberdeen Group, where she ran the organization's content marketing services business. She is a frequent speaker on marketing best practices and is a self-professed connoisseur of brick oven pizza.

Adam Litle, Vice President of North America Sales

Adam Litle is the VP Sales, North America at Monetate, responsible for new and existing business growth and overall go-to-market strategy in the region. 

Prior to Monetate, he was on the founding management team of Granular, the leading farm management and analytics company backed by Andreessen Horwitz, Google and Khosla Ventures. At Granular, he led the business development, finance and customer success functions after building them from the ground up. 

Throughout his career, Adam has worked in a wide range of organizations including law firms, investment banks, startups, venture capital, not-for-profits and emerging growth companies - always with a focus on technology.

Mike Harris, SVP & GM of EMEA

Mike leads Monetate's EMEA sales operations. Prior to joining Monetate in 2012, he held leadership roles at various digital marketing software companies including Touch Clarity (acquired by Omniture), Omniture (acquired by Adobe) and Cognitive Match (acquired by Magnetic).

Mike has spent the last 14 years helping leading European brands transform their digital business with personalisation. Mike started his career in Canada where he attended Queen's University.

Nicole Kerr, VP of Product Management

Nicole Kerr is the Vice President of Product Management at Monetate where she leads the strategy, planning and execution of Monetate's product roadmap. She also works closely with the go-to-market teams including Marketing and Sales to drive growth and adoption of Monetate's products.

Her past experience includes product management roles at both Nokia and Hibu. While at Nokia, she worked to drive innovation of Nokia’s real-time location-based mobile ad platform. Prior to her product roles, Nicole held multiple Strategic Marketing and Research positions at ARAMARK Corporation, working with multiple business units across the organization.

Nicole holds an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University’s Haub School of Business. She lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband and three children.

Éric St-Jean, VP of Engineering

As the Vice President of Engineering at Monetate, Éric St-Jean is responsible for the team building and maintaining the product and the product infrastructure, ensuring our products scale and remain up and running at all times while evolving constantly.

Prior to joining Monetate, Éric has held multiple leadership positions in the last 11 years and has been working on software for 18 years, 11 of which working on SaaS products. Éric holds a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University and a Master's degree in Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal.

Tim Maudlin, Board Member

Tim Maudlin possesses a strong web and ecommerce background and is an experienced advisor and board member for a variety of companies spanning multiple industries. He has served on the Board of Directors for ExactTarget, Inc., a NASDAQ listed company prior to its acquisition by SalesForce in July 2013, as Lead Independent Director, Chair of the Audit Committee, and Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. He serves as Lead Independent Director, Audit Committee Chair, and member of the Compensation Committee on the Board of Directors for the NASDAQ listed WEB.com, having served as a director since 2002. Maudlin also served as Audit Chair for MediaMind Technologies Inc., a NASDAQ listed company prior to its acquisition in July 2011, as well as Fanatics, Inc. prior to its acquisition by GSI Commerce in February 2011.

Maudlin is a former director of Newegg, Inc., the second-largest online-only retailer in the United States, serving as the Chairperson of its Audit and Governance Committees and a member of its Compensation Committee. He served as a managing partner of Medical Innovation Partners, a venture capital firm from 1989 through 2007 and President of its management company since 1985. Additionally, he was a director of Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a NASDAQ listed pharmaceutical company since September 2006, serving as the chairman of its Audit Committee and its Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and a member of the Compensation Committee.

David Bookspan, Board Member

David is Founder and Director of Monetate, Inc. He founded the company in 2008 with David Brussin to help online marketers fulfill the long-held promise of using Big Data to get the right experience in front of the right customer at the right time. Since then, he has served on Monetate’s Board of Directors, and has helped create and establish a multi-billion dollar market for digital personalization.

An entrepreneur and investor, David is also the Founding Partner of DreamIt Ventures, the third-ranked startup accelerator in the world. DreamIt has launched 145 companies since 2008 and catapults idea-stage and early-stage businesses to market in 3 months.

Before his day jobs started, David was a pitcher in the Semi-Pro Spanish Federation of Baseball Leagues, where his duties included keeping runners off base. David retired before his outfielders got hurt.

Jon Temple, Board Member

Jonathan Temple is an Operating Partner with The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm focused on making investments in growing businesses valued at up to $400 million. Prior to joining The Riverside Company, Jonathan was President and CEO of HEAT Software where he successfully orchestrated the sale of the business to Clearlake Capital. 

Jonathan has more than 25 years’ experience as a CEO and operating executive in the software industry with an impressive track record of leading and accelerating the growth of public, venture-backed and PE owned software organizations. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and currently serves as an independent director on the boards of Host Analytics, Metric Insights, Monetate and FirstFuel Software.

Adam Marcus, Board Member

Adam is a Managing Director of OpenView Partners. Adam joined OpenView in 2009 and is currently also on the boards of Kareo, uSamp, Spredfast, Instructure and UnboundID.

Prior to joining OpenView, Adam worked at Battery Ventures focusing on investments in marketing services, fintech, and digital media. At Battery, Adam was on the Board of J. Hilburn, a Board Observer at ExactTarget, and was actively involved with Cortera. Prior to Battery, Adam was Director of Corporate Development for The Boston Celtics, where he led strategic initiatives for the team. He also worked at Lycos (sold to Telefonica), where he was responsible for M&A, private equity, and joint venture investment within North America, Europe and Asia. Earlier in his career, Adam worked in Business Development at Gamesville.com (sold to Lycos) and at Tripod.com (sold to Lycos).

Scott Maxwell, Board Member

Scott is Founder and Managing Partner at OpenView where he focuses on distinctive business models and products that uniquely address a meaningful market pain point. This includes a broad interest in application and infrastructure companies, and businesses that are addressing the next generation of technology, including SaaS, cloud computing, mobile platforms, storage, networking, IT tools, and development tools.

Scott has been a Venture Capitalist since 2000, first as a senior Managing Director at Insight Venture Partners and then as the founder of OpenView Venture Partners. He has worked with numerous companies to help them craft and realize their visions.

At OpenView, and previously at Insight, Scott worked to develop and communicate the vision that an institutionalized venture capital firm can — and should — offer meaningful value beyond the capital that it invests. He has spent over a decade iterating on that approach, which includes the development of OpenView’s investment focus and team, the OpenView Labs team, and the firm’s content sites for executives.

Scott led the team that founded OpenView in 2006 to continue developing his model for investing in and adding meaningful value to expansion-stage technology companies. Since OpenView’s inception, he has served on the board of directors or worked in some fashion with most of OpenView’s portfolio companies.

Before founding OpenView, Scott joined Insight Venture Partners in 2000 as the Chief Operating Officer. At Insight, he led the effort to institutionalize the investment process, outbound program, value-add program, and finance, legal, and administration departments. After institutionalizing the investment strategy and infrastructure, Scott started leading deal work in 2001 and was the partner responsible for investing in eight of Insight’s portfolio companies.

Prior to becoming a Venture Capitalist in 2000, Scott spent the 1990s primarily working with financial services companies. He was a Partner at Putnam Investments, where he was Managing Director, Corporate Development, and was appointed to run Putnam’s alternative asset management program. Previous to Putnam Investments, he was a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers, where he was the Chief Financial Officer of the Global Equity Division and a member of the Global Equities Executive Committee. Before Lehman, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he focused primarily on financial institutions.

Scott spent the 1980s as a technology designer and developer, and was responsible for designing and developing automation systems at two California-based start-up companies. During that time, he also lectured at California State University, Sacramento.

Wayne Jackson, Board Member

Wayne Jackson currently serves as the CEO of Sonatype, Inc., the leaders in Component Lifecycle Management and creators of Maven and other technologies used by millions of software developers worldwide.

Prior to joining Sonatype, Wayne served as the CEO of open source network security pioneer Sourcefire, Inc. (NASDAQ:FIRE), which he guided from fledgling start-up through an IPO in March of 2007, later acquired by Cisco for $2.7 billion. Before joining Sourcefire, Wayne co-founded Riverbed Technologies, a wireless infrastructure company, and served as its CEO until the sale of the company for more than $1 billion in March of 2000. Prior to Riverbed, Wayne built an emerging-technologies business unit for a large systems integrator and provided consulting services to organizations including General Electric, the World Bank and the Federal Reserve.

Wayne holds a B.B.S in Finance from James Madison University, 1985, and has completed the Executive Education program for Corporate Governance at Harvard University.
